ROAD SIGN DAMAGE: A large number of signs along the Riddoch Highway between Penola and Mount Gambier have recently been repaired following what is seen to be deliberate damage.

VANDALISED road signs along the Riddoch Highway has sparked serious road safety concerns from two Limestone Coast civic leaders.

The signs – although now repaired – appeared to have been purposely damaged, with holes and dents obstructing visibility for motorists.

Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll condemned the “anti-social behaviour” and said damage to public property was purely a police matter.

“Damage to road signs in any form is a community safety issue which we here at council take very seriously,” he said.

Mr Noll said the negative behaviour needed to stop.

“We are encouraging community members with any information to contact their local police station,” he said.

“We are also hoping the Limestone Coast police will be able to find those who committed the vandalism.

“This behaviour within the Limestone Coast community is unacceptable.”

Grant District Mayor Richard Sage supported Mr Noll’s comments and encouraged community members to consider the ramifications of anti-social behaviour.
