2019 Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Awards launch night

SOUTH East business people mixed and mingled on Monday night, celebrating the 2019 Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Awards launch.

The night provided around 60 business representatives with an opportunity to network with other chamber members, while launching the city’s major business awards.

Four businesses who have successfully traded in Mount Gambier for over the past 30 years were also announced as hall of fame inductees.

The chamber will welcome Cosmopolitan Pizza and Pasta Bar, Gambier Tile Centre, Green Triangle Electronics and Tony Bolton Optometrist into the hall of fame at the Outstanding Business Awards gala night later this year.

Chamber president Biddie Shearing said the hall of fame recognised diverse enterprises providing excellent service to the community.

“Those inducted into the Hall of Fame have demonstrated their passion and dedication to the Mount Gambier community,” Ms Shearing said.

Chamber vice president Ben Hood said the evening event allowed more people to take part.

“We recently ran a survey for members to complete and we found many people could not attend our breakfasts events,” he said.

“We have become more proactive thinkers and have decided to include a range of different event times which cater to all members.”

Sponsored by the National Australian Bank, Mr Hood said the award presentation had been a highlight on Mount Gambier’s business calendar for many years.

“The awards allow for many fantastic businesses, employees, employers and young businessmen and women to be recognised for their exceptional work in the community,” he said.

“This year’s awards will certainly be no exception.

“The awards are also a great way for businesses to be able to promote themselves and have the wider community recognise their achievements and their dedication to their industries.”

Mr Hood encouraged all Limestone Coast businesses to nominate outstanding and exceptional businesses and workers.

“It is not only about recognising others, but we encourage other businesses to nominate themselves as well,” Mr Hood said.

“The submission process allows businesses to drill down and ask where they sit.

“It also allows businesses to positively reflect on great things completed and achievements recognised.”

Nominations close on August 2 with the Gala Awards Night held on October 11 at The Barn Palais.

Event tickets will be released during the first week of September.
