High honour for Probus commitment

VOLUNTEER RECOGNISED: Men’s Probus Club secretary Kevin Packer shows the award he received after being nominated for the Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer service.

MOUNT Gambier Men’s Probus Club member Kevin Packer has been awarded the Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer service.

The nine-year member and current secretary was nominated because of his “above and beyond” participation within the club, helping to organise events and travel as well as minute taking and agenda organisation.

Also responsible for the monthly newsletter, Mr Packer was praised for bringing a positive and vibrant attitude to his meaningful work.

As club secretary since 2012, Mr Packer said he was delighted just to be nominated, let alone receive the award.

“Those who have nominated me obviously believe I am well deserving of the award,” Mr Packer said.

“But it is a lot of work even for a small club.”

“I find the challenging work for the club provides me with a welcome addition to the pursuit of meaningful activities while living the retired life,” Mr Packer said.

“Recently we went to Bright for a trip which was not only beautiful but also informative.”
