DIRECTORS TOUR: Dr Melentie Pandilovski will give a tour of the new exhibition opening at the Riddoch Art Gallery on Saturday.

THE historic Riddoch Art Collection will be showcased in a new light this weekend as the Riddoch Art Gallery launches a new exhibition.

Displaying over 20 works from the prized collection, Interpretations from the Riddoch Art Collection has been curated by gallery director Dr Melentie Pandilovski and will represent 130 years of collecting practices.

“The title of the exhibition refers to past themes and ideas about the Collection and those that are being actively discussed in the community, supported by the art objects collected by the Riddoch Art Gallery over many years” Dr Pandilovski said.

“The exhibition presents various aspects, contexts and interpretations of acclaimed art in this eclectic collection and we are thrilled to present such an important body of work by prominent South Australia, national and international artists.”

Dr Pandilovski will host a curatorial tour at 12pm on Saturday where he will discuss and explain the works of local and international artists who are featured.

“Not only does this exhibition give us the opportunity to demonstrate the wonderful artworks we have in the collection, it also touches on the creation of our contemporary identity through the presentation of art that reflects on historical events,” Dr Pandilovski said.

Some works expected to be displayed include Johnny Skinner’s Plum Dreaming, Cathleen Edkin’s Summer Flowers and Peter Booth’s Painting 1982.

There is also expected to be new acquisitions including Annette Bezor’s Entanglement Landscape Libido.

The collection will be on display from April 27 until June 16.
