BEACHPORT was abuzz over the weekend as visitors and locals flocked to the seaside town in celebration of the Easter period and four-day weekend.

With temperatures soaring to 30 degrees on Saturday, many people took advantage of the sunshine and attended the community’s annual Easter weekend market day.

HAPPY EASTER: Gina Little with Eden and Lily Gysbers were happy to enjoy the sunshine on Saturday in Beachport.

Over 40 stalls lined Railway Terrace for the event, which was noted as one of the biggest held to date and sold a range of goods including homemade products, gourmet food, honey, bric-a-brac and face painting.

Easter bunny was also in attendance earlier in the day and handed out chocolate treats to children, however had to leave in the mid-morning due to the heat.

Market coordinator Ros Brown said she was pleased with the outcome of the day, which was successful and well attended.

“The weather was fabulous for us,” she said.

“The stall holders that I managed to catch up with afterwards were happy and that is actually the most we have had at an Easter market and more than we had in January.

“Cars were lining all of the back streets and there was a constant flow of foot traffic coming through.

“It was definitely one of the most successful markets we have held and everyone was in great holiday spirits and really friendly.”

The market day has been a Beachport District Development Association initiative for over 15 years and money from stall holder registration is put back into the community.
