LIMESTONE Coast residents have the chance to enjoy world-class jazz free of charge through a competition launched by The Border Watch Newsgroup.
Partnering with Generations In Jazz – held from May 3 to 5 – the newsgroup is offering two double weekend passes, five Friday night passes along with five Thursday night and five Saturday Gala concert tickets among the prizes.
To enter, simply fill out the entry form which will appear in each edition of The Border Watch, The Pennant and The South Eastern Times up until entries close on April 26.
Entries must be delivered to The Border Watch or The South Eastern Times offices with only original copies of entry forms accepted.
The competition launch comes as one of America’s most well known jazz institutes joins the world-class line-up.
The Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz performance ensemble, based at the University of California, Los Angeles, is formed through a two-year free tuition program.
All studying for a Master of Music in Jazz performance degree, students are selected for the intensive graduate degree through extensive auditions and receive full scholarships as well as stipends to cover monthly living expenses.
“We are so excited to host the Herbie Hancock Institute here in Mount Gambier,” Generations in Jazz chief executive Belinda Shannon said.
“This will be yet another inspiring opportunity for the 5315 students and staff travelling here to perform, listen and learn from some incredible industry peers.”
The institute will perform at the Friday welcome concert on May 3 alongside Kurt Elling, Lizz Wright and many others.
