THE Penola Men’s Shed is seeing one of its busiest periods to date, with members saying orders from the public and community organisations are coming in almost every day.
Since the club’s success building picnic tables for the newly reopened Nangwarry Pool, it has been building tables and other items for the community “left, right and centre”.
The Penola Country Fire Service (CFS) contacted the group to fabricate cradles to support new rescue equipment in its truck.
The CFS thought the men’s shed would be the perfect fit to make the much needed supports and was blown away with the finished product.
Men’s shed member Jurgen Neuner said the group was proud to take part in the project.
“We always enjoy doing things for the community but something like this is extra special,” he said.
“The CFS is so important to our region, they are there to support everyone, so it is important for us to give back when we can.”
The equipment was recently used in a major accident on the corner of the Riddoch Highway and V & A Lane.
CFS members all agreed the new supports for the rescue equipment made locating the items easy and hassle-free.
