Swinging with the stars fundraiser

PENOLA “celebrity” Kate Perry kicked off her Swinging with the Stars campaign with a bang over the weekend at her scavenger hunt and pop-up bar.

Due to poor weather, the event was relocated from the Penola Town Square to the “race hub” just off Church Street, but while the weather was damp, spirits were high with residents flocking to Ms Perry’s big event.

The scavenger hunt had 13 teams enter with residents young and old participating.

Once the race was over, community members converged at the hub to enjoy a night of wine, food and good company.

Ms Perry raised over $3000 for her campaign, with all funds going to the Penola Coonawarra Stand Like Stone Foundation Sub Fund.

“It was an amazing night,” she said.

“The community was great, I was a little nervous at the start of the day due to the weather and was not sure if people would turn up, but I had such amazing support I cannot believe it.

“The whole thing turned out perfectly – now I’m just looking forward to getting into the swing of things and taking on the stage later this year.”
