MILLICENT’S central business district will be spun into a celebration of arts and culture next month when visitors flock to town for the 17th annual Geltwood Festival.

As part of the festivities the Lions Club of Millicent will host its Family Fun Day on April 7.

Held in conjunction with the Geltwood Festival, this year’s program will feature a number of new additions.

Millicent retailers will open their doors from 10am to cater for the busy crowds, while young and old will be entertained by horse and sulky and steam tractor rides and a mechanical bull.

Lions club member and event organiser Alan Rolfe said he anticipated the family fun day would be “bigger and better” this year.

“This event attracts people to the town by giving them something to do that is both relaxing and fun,” he said.

“We love to see the main business district full of people and the shop keepers love it as well.

“It packs out the main street sometimes even to the point where it is hard to walk around, which is just great.

“There are many good reasons to join in with plenty to see, do and eat.”

Police, ambulance and Country Fire Service will display their vehicles, while a number of performers will provide entertainment throughout the day including the Millicent Choral Society, the Beachport Ukelele Group and the Adlair Highland Dance troupe.

Mr Rolfe said the variety and new additions to the 2019 program, along with the 35 stallholders, would provide entertainment for visitors of all ages.

The event will start at 3pm with food, stalls and music before the story of another Millicent “murder” will be told at the popular Murder at the Museum event.

Stallholders wishing to register a site for the Family Fun Day should contact Mr Rolfe on 0412 514 603 by the end of the month.
