TOO FAST: Daniel Storer proudly displays the chequered flag after a strong night of racing at the Borderline Speedway Saturday night. Pictures: SR PHOTOS

ROUND four of the Wingless Sprints Super Series was the perfect support act for the sprintcars at the Borderline Speedway Saturday night.

The Tyson Perez Memorial promised a big night of racing for the sprintcars, but as usual the wingless sprints did not disappoint.

Local interest saw Mitchell Broome and Kirby Hillyer up against a gaggle of Victorian drivers, with the pair on the pace in the heats, but facing some formidable opposition, which included the eventual winner Daniel Storer.

Storer claimed the honours ahead of his brother Luke, with both fast throughout the night.

Luke Weel fought hard for the final spot on the podium.

The opening heat saw Daniel Storer far too strong for the remainder of the field, out to a big lead and maintaining his margin to finish ahead of Luke Storer and Michael McDonald.

The second heat saw the two Limestone Coast drivers make their charge, with Broome out of third place on the grid and Hillyer from fifth.

In a tough outing Luke Weel claimed the win, with Broome down to fourth mid-way through, but fighting back to cross the line in third.

Hillyer moved up one spot to finish in fourth.

The third heat saw Hillyer showing some pace, running in fourth place, while Broome sat down in sixth.

Hillyer finished with the fastest lap of the heat, which saw the win go to Shaun Lyness.

The final heat again went to Daniel Storer.

That set up an interesting grid for the 30-lap A Main feature.

Hillyer started out of seventh place, with Broome just behind in ninth.

As the race unfolded Daniel Storer began to show his class, with Luke Storer in hot pursuit.

Hillyer moved up one position, while Broome dropped back a couple, with lapped traffic soon having an impact.

A caution came with just nine laps to run, with both able to move up a position in the following laps.

The Limestone Coast drivers continued to push hard against their cross-border rivals, with HIllyer up to fifth place at the chequered flag after an impressive drive in his rookie season, while Broome managed a seventh place.
