Scholarships secured to help boost enterprises

BUSINESS BOOSTED: Limestone Coast Pantry owner Lyn McLachlan and Dare to Dream Business Coaching and Mentoring representative Duncan Redman. Ms McLahlan was the winner of the 2019 WiBRD business booster scholarship.

A POULTRY farmer and café owner have secured scholarships to boost their enterprises at the Women in Business and Regional Development (WiBRD) 2019 launch.

Limestone Coast Pantry owner Lyn McLachlan was awarded the WiBRD business booster scholarship.

Ms McLachlan opened her doors in 2017 as a small tasting café, manufacturer of preserves and take-home meals.

Ms McLachlan hopes the scholarship will give her the opportunity to become an effective business leader and grow Limestone Coast Pantry to become a strong, regional resource for the community.

Meanwhile, Bordertown resident and Lowan Park Produce owner Lucy Dodd received the development organisation’s entrepreneurial scholarship.

Ms Dodd’s enterprise centres around regenerative business through developing a range of quality meat products, including pasture-raised chickens.

“I am creating business opportunities using business layering techniques that find ways to get more sustainable economic and environmental outcomes from the one property,” she said.

Both winners will receive business coaching and mentoring from Dare to Dream Business Coaching and Mentoring valued at more than $1500 which will take place over the course of 2019.

Over 80 people attended the launch event held at the Commodore on the Park on February 15.

Guests were kept entertained with performances by local artists, including Matt James and Kalimna Jazz.

Inspirational business owner Toni Vorenas was the keynote speaker for the evening.

Highlighting the importance of self-care for business owners, Ms Vorenas reflected on personal experiences to outline why business owners need to put themselves first and set goals to further their success.
