OPTIONS for a new principal office for the Wattle Range Council will be considered during the development of the 2019/20 Annual Business Plan.
It was resolved at council’s February monthly meeting that chief executive Ben Gower be asked to conduct a needs analysis, site comparisons, due diligence and value on all potential
council office sites.
This resolution is in line with Council’s 2018-2021 Strategic Plan which includes a strategic action to review future expansion options and requirements for the council Main Office.
The current council office on George Street was built in the 1930’s as the former Millicent High School and was converted to council chambers and offices in 1963.
“The current building is in need of a significant makeover and we are concerned that further investment in this 90-year-old asset will only be a band aid solution.
“We have therefore directed the chief executive to explore alternative site options as part of our budget deliberations,” Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll OAM said.
