LIFE membership has recently been bestowed on Suzie Hutchesson and Carol Garner who are long-serving volunteers of the Millicent Show Society.

The pair have devoted countless hours to the organisation and over the years have held various roles, acted as stewards and convenors of various sections and undertaken many behind-the-scenes tasks.

The names of Ms Hutchesson and Ms Garner will now be added to the society life members’ honour board which was donated by The South Eastern Times in 1989.

Their elevation to life member status was endorsed unanimously when the society held its annual general meeting in Vera’s Hall at the Millicent showgrounds on Monday night.

Ms Hutchesson was an apology but Ms Garner was present and said she was honoured to receive the accolade.

Neville Copping was re-elected unopposed as president for a third term in office at the meeting.

The other office-holders are Sue Vanderheul (senior vice president), Ian Nitschke (junior vice president), Megan Brennan (secretary and public officer), Bev Copping (treasurer) and Helen Cranage (publicity officer).

The committee members elected for the coming two years are Ms Garner, Brett Keatley, Michael Tessier, Tina Keatley, Sandy Bell, Irene Dickens, Grace Keatley and Trudy Mengersen,

The other committee members who have further year to serve are Ms Hutchesson, Richard Kovaks, Klaus Emmerich, Kathleen Staude and Barb Nitschke.

Jim Garner continues on the committee in his role as immediate past president while Millicent accountant Michael Schultz was reappointed as auditor.

The meeting decided to invite six residents to be Patrons of the society in 2019.

They are Neville Hutchesson, Ada Gurney, Len Teagle, Brian Foster, Garth Huppatz and Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll OAM.
