Mobile centre to visit South East

ONE STOP: Member for Barker Tony Pasin is encouraging Port MacDonnell and Lucindale residents to attend the Federal Government’s mobile service centre next week.

THE COALITION Government’s mobile service centre will stop at Port MacDonnell next week to deliver Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services.

The 20-tonne truck, named Desert Rose, will set up opposite the town’s community centre on Charles Street from 9am to 2pm on February 15.

A session will be held in Lucindale on February 14 from 10am to 3.30pm.

Member for Barker Tony Pasin encouraged Limestone Coast residents to attend, with staff on board able to help with Centrelink claims, Medicare registrations and online services.

He said a social worker would accompany the team to offer specialised support to people in need.

Information about Department of Veterans’ Affairs programs and associated support services will also available.

“This is a great opportunity to meet face-to-face with specialist staff without having to drive long distances to do so,” Mr Pasin said.

“You do not need an appointment and it’s free, so anyone who needs help or has a question should visit the team aboard Desert Rose.”

Staff on board have delivered Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services to almost 140,000 customers since 2016.

Run by the Department of Human Services, the two buses in service have travelled over 800,000km and to more than 4000 communities.

Human Services Minister Michael Keenan said Desert Rose reinforces the government’s commitment to delivering services to all Australians regardless of where they live.
