A GRASSFIRE midway between Millicent and Penola was extinguished on Friday night but required patrolling by volunteer fire-fighters over the weekend.

The fire at Monbulla occured in the vicinity of the Manga Road and Mount Burr Road intersection.

Wattle Range Country Fire Service group officer Fred Stent said he mobilised six fire appliances at 7pm on Friday and the blaze was brought under control within 90 minutes.

He said an amount of pasture was blackened.

“We the spent most of the weekend out there looking for hot spots,” Mr Stent said.

“We have had police and CFS investigators here but a cause has yet to be found.”

Mr Stent said he also dispatched a CFS crew to a fallen tree limb on the Edenhope Road at Glenroy at 9.20am yesterday.

“You do not need a major bushfire to be busy around here,” Mr Stent said.
