Applications remain open for KCA Millicent Mill scholarship

THE Kimberly-Clark Australia Millicent Mill Scholarship will again be awarded this year.

For almost 40 years, the company has awarded a generous annual scholarship to a local secondary school graduate or university student.

Under the terms of the 2019 scholarship, the recipient will receive an annual living allowance of $2000 for up to four years, as well as paid summer vacation employment in a relevant sphere at the Millicent Mill.

This is in line with past years and applications have to be submitted by February 4.

The company has made the scholarships available to tertiary students in the various of disciplines of engineering.

In years gone by, accountancy, science and business studies students were also eligible for the Millicent Mill Scholarship.

A number of scholarship recipients have continued to work for the company after graduation while for others it has been a “launching pad” for their entry into the wider business world.

When the scholarship began in the 1970s, it was known as the Apcel Scholarship which was the mill’s name at the time.

Over the past decade or so, the company has also made year-long office traineeships available to school leavers.
