BUSINESS management, training and assessment and health administration are the work pathways booming in popularity among the region’s Tafe SA aspirants.
More than 700 Tafe SA offers were made across the South East, including within business administration, aged and disability service and children’s education and care courses.
The most popular courses included Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which is delivered for individuals who are responsible for training and assessment.
The part time course is delivered at the Mount Gambier campus and can be undertaken within two years.
Diploma of Business and Health Administration were also top picks by prospective students.
Across South Australia, more than 12,000 applications were received for the January round of offers, with 8133 placement offers made.
Nursing and pathology was the most popular course statewide, attracting 1234 applications.
Children’s education and care, business and administration and aged and disability services also received high numbers of applications.
Today’s round of offers come after Tafe SA received a clean bill of health from the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) late last year.
In December, the Government announced that no sanctions were applied to any of the 16 qualifications audited in the quality authority’s final report.
Education Minister John Gardner said the boost in applications demonstrated the community’s confidence in Tafe SA is being restored.
He assured prospective students Tafe SA would provide “high quality training” that “meets the standards required”.
“The Marshall Liberal Government is delivering a fresh start for Tafe, focused on meeting the needs of both South Australians seeking the skills they need to build their careers and the local industry that is seeking a skilled workforce,” he said.
“The delivery of ASQA’s final audit report last month represents a significant milestone in restoring the community’s confidence in Tafe.”
New courses offered by Tafe SA this year include a Certificate IV in Cyber Security, a Diploma of Social Media Marketing and an Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts (Acting).
Around 40 new short courses have also been launched in areas including wine and viticulture, cookery, conservation and land management, performing arts and fashion.
