THE Department of Environment and Water has been working on a retaining shacks policy, according to Grant District Council.
The department has prepared a draft policy and draft retaining shacks guidelines, which were provided to council in late November.
Council staff held a phone conference with departmental officers in late November.
“Targeted more specific consultation will occur in early 2019 over a proposed four week period,” a council report said.
At this time, it is anticipated the draft policy and guidelines are likely to have implications for council.
It is intended department officials will meet with council early in 2019 to outline and discuss the draft policy and guidelines.
The Glenelg River Shack Owners Association is aware of the draft documents.
