Winter champions crowned on course

BIG DAY: The Beachport Golf Club women gathered recently to hand out the end-of-season awards.

THE Beachport Golf Club women held their presentation dinner at the clubrooms, recently, heralding the end of the 2018 winter season and the start of the Summer Cup.

TOP HONOURS: Robyn Walters won the monthly medal and the trophy for the most birdies, while Marilyn Bellinger received both the captains and vice captains trophies at the Beachport Golf Club awards function.

The champions for the year were Robyn Walters, Marilyn Bellinger and Jillyanne Herdman for A, B and C Grade respectively.

BIG SEASON: Jillyanne Herdman was awarded with a swag of honours as a result of the C Grade champion, while Wendy Atkinson won the Bankhouse Quilts trophy at the Beachport Golf Club’s awards function.

The president’s trophy was won by Deb Tinknell, who also won the B Grade Eclectic, while Suzie Watts won the Shylie Rymill Foursomes.

Bellinger received both the captains and vice captains trophies, while Walters won the monthly medal and the trophy for the most birdies.

The Bankhouse Quilts trophy went to Herdman and Wendy Atkinson, while the International Bowl winners were Sue Wheal and Shirley Brown, with Brown winning the best nine.

Karen MacGregor took the putting honours with with 25 putts.

For the A Grade the Eclectic winner was Kaye Best, with Liz Redman having the most ferrets and Walters the most threes.

The most ferrets for the B Grade went to Herdman, with Annie McLennan having the most threes.

SOLID EFFORT: Julie Moran received the encouragement trophy for her continual improvement, Deb Tinknell claimed the president’s trophy, Suzie Watts won the Shylie Rymill Foursomes and Kaye Best won the A Grade Ecelctic honours at the Beachport Golf Club’s awards function.

Last Wednesday 12 players competed in Robe in a nine-hole stableford competition for the annual trophy.

Julie Howe handled the challenging back nine well, amassing a credible 19 points for the visitors, with Best winning the long drive on the 11th hole.

Unfortunately home ground advantage saw Robe claim the honours.
