SOUTH East author Simon Bryant will launch his first novel at the historic Glencoe Woolshed today.
Mr Bryant – who grew up on a soldier settler farm in Kalangadoo – has chronicled the life of historic figure Mary “Minnie” Hunter in his work Boss.
Minnie was the daughter of Kalangadoo pastoral station owner James Hunter and Boss is a historic-fiction novel based on the diaries she wrote about her experiences in nineteenth century Australia.
The story also charts the terrible fate that befell the Boandik and Wiradjuri tribes who Minnie lived with and befriended over the course of her life.
The self-published author said it was fitting to launch the book in the historic Glencoe Woolshed.
“The event will start at 3pm and we will have a few readings,” Mr Bryant said.
“Myself and my friend Nicola Tyndale-Biscoe, who is a filmmaker and actor from Adelaide, will read a few excerpts and we will have time for questions and discussion afterwards.
“That will be followed by a lovely afternoon tea, wines, tea and coffee.”
Entry will cost $10 and will include afternoon tea, while copies of Boss will be available to purchase for $25.
