Police seek information attempted robbery

A MOUNT Gambier man who threatened staff at a city service station with a fake firearm on Thursday is still on the run with detectives releasing security camera footage in an attempt to have him identified.

The attempted robbery occurred at 7.45pm when the brazen man entered the service station on Jubilee Highway West and threatened staff with the imitation firearm and a baseball bat before running off empty handed.

Security camera footage released by police shows the man becoming increasingly agitated as he points the fake firearm at staff.

After around a minute, the man can be seen running from the scene in an easterly direction.

He left the service station empty-handed and staff were not injured in the incident.

Police patrols conducted a search of the area, but were not able to locate the suspect.

The suspect was described as being of Caucasian appearance with dark hair and wearing a black hooded jumper, blue shorts and black shoes.

He was seen getting into a dark blue or black coloured VT or VX Holden Commodore station wagon.

The car had no number plates or front bumper and had a white sticker on the rear window.

Police are still conducting enquiries into the incident and no arrests have been made.

Anyone who recognises the man or has any information that may assist the investigation is asked to report details online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
