ALLENDALE East Area School R-12 visual arts teacher April Hague has been presented with the 2018 Minister’s Art Education Secondary Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution within the teaching profession.

The award included $5000 towards her professional development, presented on World Teachers’ Day last month.

“I would like to further my professional learning in the area of community art and particularly the art form of mural-making,” Ms Hague said.

“I plan to attend some 2019 street art festivals, including the Wall to Wall Festival held in Benalla, Victoria and the Brisbane Street Art Festival.

“I would also like to visit Christchurch in New Zealand to explore the physical and emotional transformation of the city following the major earthquake of 2011.”

Ms Hague will continue to collaboratively work with students and community members, providing mentorship as part of her everyday life.
