Seniors celebrated

YOUNG AT HEART: The Seniors Festival will begin this month with presentations and lunches held across the South East free to all Grant District Council residents.

SENIOR members of the Limestone Coast are being recognised for their valuable contribution to the community this month.

Free events are being presented by Grant District Council for the annual Seniors Festival, ranging from lunches to presentations.

Bush Repair Culture Education representative Ken Jones showcased a Boandik bush tucker presentation at the Tarpeena Pines Hotel yesterday with a themed lunch.

Ben Hood from HelloFriday will present the growing success of George the Farmer at the Port MacDonnell Community Complex today with the opportunity for purchase and signing of his books.

Following Mr Hood’s presentation, there will be a lunch at the Shipwreck Bistro in Port MacDonnell.

The Port MacDonnell Community Complex will offer free entry to seniors all day with Submerged, Stories of Australia’s Shipwrecks and South East Art Society exhibitions available for free viewing at the maritime museum.

Another lunch will be available at the Bellum Hotel tomorrow, with free transport provided from Donovans and Carpenter Rocks.

Snowie Bai from FuRui Exchange will showcase her life story after growing up in China and now being a member of the Grant District community.

Pauline Gower from St John Ambulance will provide a short hands-on demonstration at each event showcasing correct use of the life-saving defibrillator.

All presentations will start at 11am.

Anyone over the age of 55 not a resident of Grant District is welcome to attend at their own expense.
