MORE than 1000 people flowed through the main pavilion at the Mount Gambier Showgrounds at the weekend to explore a rainbow world made of Lego.
The second-annual Empak Homes BrickGambier boasted hands-on activities and intricate Lego creations celebrating pop culture, as well as replica models of historic Mount Gambier buildings.
Event coordinator Emma Robinson said the two-day event was a hit with young families and featured “something for everyone.”
“We had 824 people through the doors on Sunday and so far today we have had almost 300 people,” Ms Robinson told The Border Watch yesterday.
“We have doubled the number of people we had at last year’s event, so we are pretty happy about that.
“The response has been really positive and I think it helped being in a more central location this year.”
She said a number of passers by had noticed the cars lining Pick Avenue and decided to drop in.
“One of our exhibitors said he was just talking to a family about how affordable the cost of entry is,” Ms Robinson said.
“Families are getting good value for money, especially because most people are spending a few hours here.
“The activity tables have been really popular and it seems plenty of people are fascinated by the replicas of the old Mount Gambier hospital and old town hall.”
Twelve exhibitors showcased their Lego displays at BrickGambier, including six Lego enthusiasts from Adelaide and six Lego architects from Mount Gambier.
All proceeds raised will be donated to Wet Noses Animal Rescue.
