Maritime history inspires art project

CREATIVE MINDS COME TOGETHER: Port to Port representative Khairunnisa Schebella arrives in the South East region this weekend for project coverage.

CREATIVITY and history will combine at Port MacDonnell as Port to Port representative Khairunnisa Schebella arrives for an innovative project.

Port to Port is a digital projection created by collaborators around South Australia interweaving the history of South Australia’s mosquito fleet and local stories into a stunning digital show.

Ms Schebella is seeking local knowledge that could potentially be produced into architectural projections, to be included in her Port to Port project next year.

“I am particularly interested in the Mosquito Fleet ketch visits or any historical or contemporary connections with shipwrecks, surfing and lighthouses,” Ms Schebella said.

“I will be meeting with Port MacDonnell’s Jeremy Ievins and am hoping to bring his artwork to life.

“I am very interested in the Port MacDonnell lighthouse and it seems to be a very powerful place to potentially do the projection.”

Ms Schebella will be at the Port MacDonnell Community Complex today and at Mount Gambier’s video arts festival at the Riddoch Art Gallery over the weekend.

Phone Ms Schebella on 0412 974 655 for more information.
