FOLLOWING their sell out 2017 season, award winning entertainers Rhonda Burchmore OAM and Lara Mulcahy are returning with their smash hit live concert ABBA-solutely Fabulous.
The original dynamos from the worldwide sensation Mamma Mia will delight with their irresistible humour and spectacular renditions of songs.
Audiences are urged to get ready for an explosion of smash hits, laughs and lycra with their favourite Super Troupers.
Burchmore and Mulcahy are two of the country’s most formidable entertainers.
Burchmore’s career spans as long as her legs and includes roles in Hot Shoe Shuffle, Sugar Babies, Mamma Mia! and Mame, alongside a regular guest slot on Hey Hey It’s Saturday.
Mulcahy has played starring roles in Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables, Moulin Rouge and more.
“I met Lara in 2001 when performing the original Mamma Mia! show here in Australia,” Burchmore said.
“We have been best friends ever since.”
Over the course of the 17 years, the performers both went their own ways, featuring in different shows across the country.
“Lara and I then got together and realised it had been 40 years since ABBA had performed in Australia,” Burchmore said.
“We wanted to re-create a show that we would love to go to, while ensuring it was original.
“So as two die hard ABBA fans – we sat down and began writing.”
Burchmore and Mulcahy then developed a performance showcasing a story depicting two Australian girls growing up in the ’70s, paired with 23 hits.
The duo will also be adding an Absolutely Fabulous flare to the show – reflecting hilarious characters Eddie and Patsy.
“We adore each other and our diverse physical appearances and personality complement each other,” Burchmore said.
“I am more of the Patsy.”
The entertaining show has been selling out across Australia as audience members walk away with a strong sense of friendship and girl power.
“We always love performing in regional areas and I have been to Mount Gambier once before and really appreciated how generous the people are and the amazing response we get from them,” Burchmore said.
In addition to the two hour all ages performance – a meet and greet will then be available for attendees.
“It is a perfect girls night out,” Burchmore said.
The performance will be held on October 5 at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre at 8pm.
