Fresh winery perspective

ARTISTIC FLAIR: Penola High School students Chloe and Ruby-Lee put their photography skills to the test during a recent school excursion to Brands Laira.

PENOLA High School Year 9 and 10 visual arts photography and multimedia students recently visited Brands Laira Winery to take photographs for the 2018 Penola Show photography competition.

Manager Peter Weinberg took students on a tour revealing various parts of the winery and the processes behind winemaking.

Students made the most of the photogenic scenery, including the old stone cellar, the vineyards, stained wine barrels and industrial elements such as steel ladders.

“The students really engaged with the task enthusiastically, finding various angles and perspectives to capture interesting shots,” teacher Keren Asser said.

“They were encouraged to be creative and to capture the winery from their own unique perspectives.”

The students spent two hours photographing a range of locations at Brands Laira.

It was an enjoyable experience for the students who also had the opportunity to develop their digital SLR camera skill and photography techniques.

“Now the students have their photographs, they print them using a professional printer and display their work when they enter photographs into the Through the Lens at Laira photography competition at the Penola Show,” Ms Asser said.
