Cyber safety initiative

AUSTRALIA’S foremost expert on cyber safety will deliver a “no nonsense” parent information session in Mount Gambier this month.

Susan McLean was the first Victorian police officer appointed to a cyber safety role in the mid ’90s.

Since she received her first report of cyber bullying in 1994, she has conducted extensive research, authored resources for education departments and now provides crisis management to schools and law firms.

A sought-after presenter and adviser to elite sporting bodies including the AFL, Ms McLean is the Federal Government’s most highly-qualified eSafety presenter.

The parent information session will cover the benefits of technology and everything parents and carers need to be aware of.

Topics of discussion will include what kids are doing online, online grooming, cyber bullying, sharing of nude or explicit images, safety tips and problematic internet use/gaming issues.

The session will finish with time for questions.

Ms McLean will present the parent information session at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre at 7pm on September 24.
