Competition gives football fan something to crow about

WHILE her beloved Adelaide Crows may have suffered a grand final hangover, Kath Badenoch’s tipping took a different trajectory.

Ms Badenoch was the overall winner of The Border Watch AFL tipping competition, which has seen her take home a $3000 Kleenmaid voucher thanks to the Mount Gambier HiTec Leading Appliances store.

The Kleenmaid brand features a wide range of home appliances with ovens, cooktops, dishwashers and washing machines.

Tipping for many years, Ms Badenoch was surprised she was able to beat 217 other tipsters for the top prize.

“I was very excited because I have not really won anything in my life,” Ms Badenoch said.

“I have been tipping for a long time and I have never won, so I think this year was more good luck than anything.”

A few rounds out from the end of the season, Ms Badenoch realised she had a good chance to take out the competition.

“I thought I was a chance, but you only have to have one bad week of tipping and you can slip right down the line,” Ms Badenoch.

An avid Crows fan, Ms Badenoch said winning the tipping competition made the season more bearable after Adelaide missed the finals this year.

Despite being the top tipster for the 2018 season, she was not willing to make any predictions on the upcoming finals series.

“I am not even going to try predict it this year, I think it will be pretty interesting how they all go,” Ms Badenoch said.

“Since Richmond beat the Crows last year, I would like to see someone knock them out, but I am not sure anyone will.”

HiTec Leading Appliances owner Rick Macera said he was happy to see the tipping competition taken out by a worthy winner.

“The competition has been a great success since we have been involved and Kath is a worthy recipient of the prize this year,” Mr Macera said.

“We hope to continue to be the sponsor for the competition as it provides great recognition for the Kleenmaid brand and the store.”
