No internal challenge for Pasin

LIBERAL Member for Barker Tony Pasin will not face any internal challengers for a third term in the role.

The Liberal Party called for nominations for Barker and nine other South Australian electorates last week.

The paperwork for Barker and four other seats had to be lodged with its Adelaide headquarters by noon on Wednesday.

Mr Pasin was unchallenged, along with sitting Liberal parliamentarians Christopher Pyne (member for Sturt), Nicolle Flint (Boothby) and Rowan Ramsey (Grey).

The pre-selection process for the four sitting members is expected to be finalised at a meeting of the Liberal Party State Council in Adelaide this weekend.

Mr Pasin first won Liberal Party preselection in 2012 while working as a lawyer in his home city of Mount Gambier.

He was unchallenged for Liberal Party preselection at the last poll in 2016.

The upcoming election must be held by mid-2019 and will be fought on new boundaries, with 12,000 new electors from the Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills added to the local seat.
