RYDER-CHESHIRE Australia’s Timor facility Klibur Domin has received a boost after receiving a grant from the Count Charitable Foundation.
Kirby Financial Solutions Tax Accounting and Financial Planning new principal Andrew Clements said the firm had been contributing to the Count Charitable Foundation for nearly 10 years.
“It was now time to seek a return of some of the monies donated,” Mr Clements said.
On behalf of the foundation, Mr Clements recently presented a donation for $2500 to former Kirby Financial Solutions principal John Kirby.
Now semi-retired, Mr Kirby said he could direct more time to coordinating teams of volunteers to Klibur Domin.
“This facility detects and treats tuberculosis sufferers in Timor, caters for people with disabilities and also provides respite care,” Mr Kirby said.
“We have received great support over the last few years from local Rotarians and other volunteers, not just from the Green Triangle region, but also from further afield.
“Further, we have had both staff and clients of our firm volunteer their time and money towards this ongoing Rotary Australia Worldwide Community Service Project to support Klibur Domin.”
Mr Kirby said 6000 new cases of TB were detected and treated each year in Timor, with three people dying every day from the disease.
“A new multi drug resistant ward is almost complete, which will provide more accommodation for patients with the most resistant form of TB,” he said.
Another project of this facility will provide ongoing dental health care, with two dental teams already having visited Klibur Domin this year, which included prominent local dentist Dr Ian Ridley.
“Currently we have a team comprising mostly volunteers from Casterton undertaking a landscaping, kitchen garden and playground project at the Timor facility,” Mr Kirby said.
Mr Kirby will lead another team of volunteers in early September to follow up initial work from the landscaping team.

The Mount Gambier Days for Girls chapter is also working towards being able to supply some menstrual health hygiene kits to be distributed to school girls in Timor who cannot afford the products that Western women are accustomed to.
Mr Clements confirmed Kirby Financial Solutions would continue to make regular contributions to the Count Charitable Foundation under his ownership.
