DRUG BUST: Detective Chief Inspector Tony Crameri, from the South Australian Police Serious and Organised Crime Branch, outside the Mount Gambier Police Station hours after the arrests of eight men in relation to drug trafficking offences.

FOUR men facing major drug trafficking charges could spend more than six months in custody after not applying for bail in court on Friday.

Naracoorte men Jason Davies, 45, and Aaron Brooksby, 39, and Mount Gambier men Daniel Millowick, 21, and Brenton Davies, 25, all appeared in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court and were remanded in custody.

The prosecution told the court they would require a seven month adjournment until the second appearance to gather all the evidence.

As a result, matters for each defendant were adjourned until January 14, 2019.

Two other men did not appear in court because they were granted police bail.

Magistrate Teresa Anderson explained to each accused they could advise their counsel to have the court call their matter on for a bail application at any time before the second appearance.

The accused appeared following arrests on Thursday morning when 43 police officers, led by the South Australian Police Serious and Organised Crime Branch, conducted dawn raids in Mount Gambier, Naracoorte and Penola.

Involved in the operation were detectives from the Mount Gambier Crime Investigation Branch, dog operations unit and police from the Limestone Coast Local Service Area.
