Tilley among top Venture Dorm participants

BELINDA Tilley was among the top four Venture Dorm participants who pitched their ideas to a panel of judges at the eNVIe awards on Tuesday night.

Her vision to develop an app to help young people improve their self worth was refined during the seven-week Venture Dorm program.

A “self trainer for self-confidence”, the i-myself app would be the first of its kind.

“There is no other multi-platformed app dedicated to training your inner self,” Ms Tilley said.

“I want to change young people’s opinions of themselves, empower them to believe in themselves and give them 100pc equity in who they are and what they are capable of.

“In essence I am taking the proven strategies I have been using during my 25 years working with international young people and in business and making these strategies easily accessible.”

Ms Tilley said she hoped i-myself would be a solution to what she described as a broader “self equity deficit”.

“Without a good measure of self equity, life can be extremely painful – even fatal,” she said.

“More young people die from suicide in Australia than any other cause – it’s a grim picture and one I hope to change with i-myself.”
