COUNCIL staff members have recommended a 3.3pc rise in rate revenue at the Robe District Council in the coming financial year.
The draft annual business plan and budget for 2018/2019 has been submitted by deputy chief executive Nick Brown for approval at council’s monthly meeting on Tuesday.
Written submissions on the draft plan and budget will be invited and there will be public forums to ask questions or make submissions.
In a written report, Mr Brown said the proposed 3.3pc increase in rate revenue was due to a 2.3pc increase in the consumer price index and a further 1pc in development growth.
Mr Brown has also recommended a 2.3pc increase in the wastewater service charge.
He said the anticipated 9.24pc increase in the garbage and recycling collection service charge was due to the significant increase in recycling costs due to the Chinese ban on certain recycling waste streams.
Robe District Council has held a number of budget preparation workshops involving elected members and staff.
