STRUGGLING members of the community will continue to receive much needed support from a local organisation with thanks to a generous grant.
The Sunset Community Kitchen has received a large sum of money through a Federal Government grants program thanks to Member for Barker Tony Pasin.
The funding will allow the not-for-profit organisation to install a long-awaited kitchen feature.
Mr Pasin this week presented volunteers with an $11,000 donation secured through the government’s Stronger Communities program.
The grant will contribute to an overall kitchen upgrade including the installation of a cool room.
“I congratulate the organisation on this successful funding application,” Mr Pasin said.
“It’s an extremely worthy cause and I’m so pleased to be supporting it.”
The Sunset Kitchen has been operating for over seven years, serving nutritious meals to people struggling to put food on the table.
The Stronger Communities program provides not-for-profit organisations access to funds for small capital projects aimed at strengthening communities by improving community facilities.
“This is a great example of a dedicated community organisation run by volunteers working together to achieve great community outcomes,” Mr Pasin said.
“I’m so pleased Federal Government funding can also support this worthwhile community endeavour.”
