Anthony had not ordered a new licence but one arrived in the mail which included his correct name, address and date of birth, however the image accompanying his information was far from correct.
His iconic blonde dreadlocks were nowhere to be seen as the licence image featured an Asian woman.
Completely bamboozled by the licence delivery, Anthony took to Twitter and Facebook to share the awkward mistake.
Speaking to The Border Watch today, he said the incident “blew up”.
“This whole thing has blown up way more than I had hoped or expected,” he said.
“Vic Roads phone service was pretty poor, I was put on hold three times and the connection dropped out so I thought, I’ll just tweet them and see what happens.
“I got a reply in about 20 minutes.”
“Can you explain this one to me @VicRoads??? I’m a 36 y/o Caucasian male with dreadlocks … and did not request a new licence.”
Vic Roads was quick to respond claiming it was a case of “mistaken identity”.

“Initially I was concerned, which is why I reached out to them in the first place, but they have said it was a data mismatch which caused the issue,” Anthony said.
“As long as my information does not get into the wrong hands, all is well.”
Daily Mail Australia received a statement from VicRoads executive director of registration and licensing David Shelton, who said apologies were issued to Anthony and the woman featured on his licence.
“As a result of a processing error at one of our customer service centres, an incorrect photo was matched to the wrong customer’s file,” Mr Shelton’s statement said.
“We have spoken to both customers to apologise and have reviewed their files to ensure they are matched with the correct photos and taken action to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
Following Anthony’s tweet, other Twitter users responded claiming the same issue had happened to them.

The former North Gambier and Kalangadoo footballer now resides in Geelong and has been interviewed by various radio stations and online news outlets since posting about the incident online.
