THE achievements of Millicent Community Learning Centre (MCLC) students were celebrated at the learning facility’s end of year presentation ceremony recently.
More than 40 people gathered last Tuesday for the centre’s annual celebration of achievement ceremony.
MCLC manager Sandy Hamilton and Millicent High School principal John Shelton presented the workshop award to Jarred Mackey for his hard work and consistent commitment to the workshop and building programs.
The MCLC True Grit Award was awarded to Daniel Sutherland for his resilience and persistence in achieving goals, while the Lioness award was presented to Haylee Deverell for demonstrating dedication and commitment to learning, achieving goals and embracing new opportunities.
Billy Wimshurst-Quin was awarded the encouragement award, while the personal achievement award was presented to Zach Harding and Tyler Doecke for showing exceptional growth in personal, social and learning aspects.
MCLC manager Sandy Hamilton praised CCW Memorial Award winner Nadine McRobert for her outstanding achievement in learning and role modelling the philosophy of the centre.
Ms Hamilton said the mother of four had worked tirelessly to achieve her South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
The outgoing manager commended the dedication of all students at the centre, including the nine SACE graduates.
“For our young people, achieving your SACE can be a very long road,” she said.
“We believe that SACE is critical and vital for young people and we work hard for our young people so they feel empowered and can complete their studies.
“It has been a great year, it has been a challenging year and I think we can stand back proudly and congratulate all our young people on their achievements.”
