Mid Week Pennant: Mount Gambier RSL 54/13 d Port MacDonnell Blue 45/1

PORT MacDonnell Blue put up a challenge when travelling in-land to play against Mount Gambier RSL, but it was not enough to take the points in the Lower South East Bowling Association Mid Week Pennant competition.

Nancy Horrigan, Carmel McQuade, John Heaver and Veronica Opie (skip) had a good start against Lyn Vanderley, Barrie Schmidt, Carol Schmidt and Bob Hutchesson, but had to work hard to finish off.

Opie’s four won 31-22, which carried their side over the line.

Chris Fenwick, Wally Brown, Jenny Bowering and Mike Smith (skip) also started the stronger against Chris Lethlean, Danny Gaut, Reg Fisher and Bart Lethlean (skip).

However, once Port MacDonnell settled to the green, scores were locked together every few ends and finished that way, 23-23.

Women’s Set Singles

THE Mount Gambier RSL Women’s Set Singles final between Helen Moulden and Lyn Chirgwin will be played on today, starting at 9.30am.
