Baptists welcome new friends

DOORS OPEN: Pastor Robert Cotton of Mount Gambier’s Open Door Baptist Church ahead of this year’s Friend Day service on Sunday.

THE Open Door Baptist Church will host its annual Friend Day service this Sunday.

Informal evening meetings in the lead up to Sunday’s service will be held at the church, located on O’Halloran Terrace, from 7pm Thursday through Saturday.

Pastor Robert Cotton said the annual event was essentially an “open day” for the wider community.

“A Friend Day is an opportunity for regular church goers to invite a friend to a service or for any community member to come along and learn what we are all about,” Mr Cotton said.

“These days very few people ever darken the steps of any church – this is a chance for people who have perhaps never attended a service to experience something different.”

Mr Cotton said the meetings had “never failed to be a blessing.”

“Everyone is welcome to attend,” he said.

The Friend Day service will be held on Sunday at 10.30am, followed by a special luncheon.
