ONEFORTYONE Plantations will hold the naming rights for the Blue Lake Fun Run over the next three years after a sponsorship deal was struck with the Lakes Rotary Club of Mount Gambier.
The 2017 OneFortyOne Blue Lake Fun Run will take place on December 3 and will raise funds for many local community health and wellbeing organisations including Centacare and The Junction.
Club president, Karen Leslie said that momentum was building six months out from this year’s event.
“We are delighted to have such strong community support for this wonderful event and we welcome and thank OFO for their commitment,” Ms Leslie said.
“Lakes Rotary succeeded as the organising body in 2012 and since then, we have donated more than $100,000 to the community from the profits of the Blue Lake Fun Run to help with health and wellbeing initiatives.”
OFO general manager, Willie van Niekerk said the company was proud to align with such a key community event.
“As our team lives and works here, we feel it is important that our community initiatives help define a vibrant and thriving community, focused on the health and wellbeing of its people,” Mr Van Niekerk said.
“The Blue Lake Fun Run is a pivotal event on this region’s calendar and we are delighted to sponsor it for the next three years.”
While the sponsorship is a major coup for the event, it is not the only contribution OFO will be making to the event with staff members expected to get involved too.
“We have actually set up a bit of a challenge within the workforce and we will be hoping to get as many participants involved, even I will be taking part,” Mr Van Niekerk said.
“I haven’t done a lot of running in the last 20 years, but I will give it a go.”
Along with a strong representation for OFO, Tim and Jess from Hits 96.1 breakfast team will also be pulling their running shoes on.
