EXCITEMENT is building for families around the region as rides, stalls and animals arrive in the city for the annual Mount Gambier A&H Society Spring Show.
With an expected attendance of over 10,000 people to the showgrounds over the next two days and many new acts taking part, show committee president Kerry Hill said it was one not to miss.
“Our committee has worked really hard over the past year and have organised some really fantastic features for the show that haven’t been here before, including Walter Whip and The Flames and the Howling Huskies,” she said.
“It is the same for all of the sectional committees, they have ensured we have fantastic entries that are comparable to the royal shows.
“All of the entrants take so much pride in what they have created and get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing people appreciate their work.”
As well as the many competitions taking place, Ms Hill said the regular events are sure not to disappoint this year either when the show opens to the public tomorrow.
“The speed sheering and wood chopping are always very popular with more people taking part,” she said.
“Then there is the dog show which involves a wide range of breeds and their handlers from across the country and a range of rides for people of all ages.”
Although the sunny weather enjoyed by many this week is not expected to continue for the show festivities, Ms Hill said the committee remained positive there would still be a good turn out.
“We would prefer it to be a bit cooler – as long as it doesn’t rain,” she said.
“We just hope the community will get behind this annual event, without them the show would not be able to run.”
The Mount Gambier Show will take place tomorrow and Saturday at the showgrounds with events beginning at 8am both days.
