A MAN has been charged with aggravated assault after spitting into a police officer’s face in Mount Gambier in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man was initially evicted from a Commercial Street West licensed premises just before 3am and it is alleged he re-entered the building.
Police were called to remove the man, who assaulted the police officer by spitting in his face.
The 29-year-old was arrested and charged with re-entering a licensed premises, resisting arrest, aggravated assault and carrying an offensive weapon.
He was bailed to attend court at a later date.
