Valda Becker’s 90th birthday celebrations

SOUTH East resident Valda Becker celebrated a milestone surrounded by family and friends last month in celebration of her 90th birthday.

The celebration started with a close family dinner attended by all three of her sons, Peter, Michael and Kym Becker, along with their spouses and grandchildren Lynda, Dion, Adam and Madeline Becker.

Ms Becker’s four great-grandchildren Samuel, Joshua, Byron and James Becker also helped her celebrate.

Family travelled from afar to be there on the day with Ms Becker’s youngest son Kym travelling from Atherton, Queensland, while her nephews and nieces travelled from across South Australia and Victoria.

A slideshow depicting the rich life of Ms Becker was presented for family and friends to reminisce at the celebration.

Family members enjoyed catching up over dinner while trying to attempt a family photograph involving all four generations of the family present on the evening.

The celebration continued the following day with an open invitation for Ms Becker’s relatives and friends at the Macs Hotel Cider Garden.

Ms Becker has been a heavily involved community member, contributing to the South East Country Women’s Association (CWA) and the Mount Gambier Uniting Church.

Among her special guests at the open house on Sunday were Ms Becker’s ex-student from 70 years ago Jan Pfeiffer, her best friend of 65 years Glenda Koop and the rest of her friends from CWA and the church.

The family would like to thank everyone involved in making Ms Becker’s 90th birthday a truly special celebration.
