HELPING HAND: Jenny Crase and Paulie Watts check out some of the items to be on offer at this year’s Combined Churches Christmas Appeal Fete.

MILLICENT’S churches will unite next month to bring holiday cheer to the less fortunate for the 2017 Combined Churches Christmas Appeal Fete.

The United Church Hall will be filled with stalls selling cakes, vintage goods, plants, clothing, Christmas decorations and toys on October 20 for the annual fundraiser.

Now in its 23rd year, the fete officially starts the annual Christmas hamper appeal, which supports local families living in financial hardship through the donation of hampers.

Each year, the appeal raises several thousand dollars to make Christmas a little brighter for the region’s underprivileged.

The event will be officially opened by Wattle Range Mayor Peter Gandolfi at 10am and will continue for the next four hours.

In addition to funds raised at the fete, donations will be received from Wattle Range Council and local service clubs.

Donation bins will be distributed at local businesses including IGA, Foster’s Foodland and Woolworths, with locals encouraged to make donations of non-perishable goods.

Target Country will also be involved in the event through its Christmas Wishing Tree appeal.

All gifts received through the wishing tree will be donated to families as gifts for children at Christmas.
