FINDING the perfect wardrobe staple does not have to break the bank, especially when the city’s op shops are filled with hundreds of treasures awaiting a new home.
As part of National Op Shop Week, Mount Gambier’s charity stores are celebrating shopping while supporting the social and environmental benefits of reducing, reusing and recycling.
With special prices and plenty of choice, it can be easy to find a unique and affordable wardrobe addition while helping others by shopping at a charity store.
Each purchase made at op shops will benefit more than just the customer, as each store uses its profits to fund a range of welfare projects.
Salvos Store Mount Gambier manager Donna Hemmings said the store’s profits were injected into The Salvation Army programs.
“Through the store we raise money to support domestic and family violence, drug and alcohol and disability service programs,” she said.
She said the store relied on donations.
“We encourage everyone to bring their quality donations, whether it is clothing, furniture or household essentials,” Ms Hemmings said.
“We recently extended our donation pick up route to include more residing districts and towns including Millicent and Penola.”
This year for National Op Shop Week, Ms Hemmings encouraged people to visit the store and browse the extensive range of clothing.
“To celebrate, we are slashing the prices on our winter stock to half price for this week and the next, so come down and grab a bargain and support the work of The Salvation Army,” she said.
Mount Gambier’s Lifeline store is also offering special prices with half price store-wide today and tomorrow.
