MILLICENT v SOUTH GAMBIER

THE Limestone Coast football match of the round will take place at McLaughlin Park this weekend.

Millicent hosts South Gambier in a battle between first and second on the leaderboard and if their last meeting is anything to go by, spectators should be in for a treat.

Back in Round 4 the Demons prevailed at home by a solitary point, but will not enter the rematch under any illusions.

Millicent has been a force in the opening half of the season and that loss remains its only blemish this campaign.

The Saints are a well-oiled machine despite their youth and will be out to impress in front of a home crowd this Saturday.

Harry Tunkin is in blistering form and will be a major threat through the midfield, while the likes of Frazer Bradley and Kobe Gibson enter the match off impressive performances up forward.

The pair scored six goals each against East Gambier last week, while Bradley leads the league goal kicking with a total of 35 from eight games.

Every game starts in the middle and as such the clash between ruckmen Finn Grimes and Mason Hein will draw plenty of attention.

Both enter off strong performances, while they have been regulars in their respective side’s best players across the season.

In fact, Grimes has only missed out on a place in Millicent’s best on one occasion this year, while Hein has been in the top order six times from eight outings for South.

Mitchell Sims, Rex Jones and Emerson Marks are others who have been at a high level for the Demons this season, while the entire list of both teams is capable of making a difference.

The sides match up well and another close contest is expected, but Millicent will hold a slight edge going into the round.
