South East Native Title claim progresses

MOUNT Gambier City Council has secured legal representation after the National Native Title Tribunal advised last month the First Nations of the South East had lodged a Native Title claim encompassing the seven Limestone Coast council areas.

Council had previously resolved in November to engage Norman Waterhouse Lawyers to represent council and other Limestone Coast councils on matters relating to the claim.

Norman Waterhouse has since confirmed it has applied on behalf of the Limestone Coast councils to become a party to the application.
