$40m sports plan unveiled

BIG PLANS: Mayor Andrew Lee looks at a draft concept plan for a $40m sports and recreation centre to possibly be built at Olympic Park. Mount Gambier City Council will discuss the plan at a special meeting tonight ahead of a bid for federal funding.

MOUNT Gambier could see an increase in sporting activities in the city in the near future with plans unveiled for a $40m sports and recreation centre.

The plan was revealed on Friday after council engaged Simply Great Leisure consulting to prepare a feasibility study, concept plan, facility management options and a ratepayer impact report.

It’s the ratepayer impact that I’m concerned with. If the council miscalculates (eg Main Corner) then we ratepayers will pick up the bills for years to come.
