Labor street art fund proposal to create vibrant spaces

A STATE Labor government would establish a $500,000 regional street art fund to reinvigorate country communities and create vibrant public spaces if re-elected.

Regional artists, groups and organisations will be able to apply for grants of between $10,000 and $50,000 for street art projects and installations on spaces such as buildings, silos and other infrastructure.

The announcement follows the success of silo mural projects in Coonalpyn and Kimba, which have become drawcards for the rural towns – attracting national attention and increasing visitor numbers.
