Mayor objects to phone tower location

ROBE Mayor Peter Riseley has expressed his opposition to regulatory authorities about the proposed location of a new 50 metre phone tower near the seaside town.

Mr Riseley has led the Robe District Council for the past 7.5 years and has written to its development assessment panel with his views.

He said the proposed location on the Southern Ports Highway at the gateway to Robe would have an adverse visual impact.

According to Mr Riseley, there was public land 1.7km away from this location where the tower would not be seen but the telecommunication capacity would still be enhanced.
